POST OP SEDATION

If your pet has had a sedative / general anaesthetic today, they will need to be carefully monitored for the next 24 hours. They may need to be taken to your daytime veterinary clinic for continued monitoring/treatment or for a recheck/follow up appointment in a few days.

Please keep your pet inside, warm and quiet for the next 24 hours as they will be sleepy and their reactions will be slower than usual. Feed your pet a small meal when you first get home and ensure that your pet always has access to fresh drinking water. It may take 24-48 hours for the full effects of the sedative/anaesthetic drugs to wear off completely.

This advice does not substitute a proper consultation with a veterinarian and is intended only as a guide. We recommend you follow all advice as given by your veterinarian and contact them immediately with any concerns. You must follow medications as dispensed by your veterinary clinic and monitor your pet closely during their recovery period noting any changes and contacting your veterinary clinic as needed.
